If the artwork files are excessively large it will take time for the Touch to resize them, anyway. I have made all my cover art 512 x 512 pixels, 72 pixels/inch. I believe this is the size that is displayed on the Touch screen. It is a bit of a pain resizing them all, but I don't have any problems even with 7.6
