I'm unsure the interface may be abused by third party apps etc ,another
one is 9090 for cli interface.

On my desktop i'm a bit relaxed re the squeezeboxes, so I have created
a fw rule to allow all conections from that particular ip adress and I
use static ip in my network.

ssh and scp is port 22 ? if you use that . if one uses the Touch in
standalone mode one would also have to make sure that the fw is open
for samba (smb) so that you can transfer files to it.
