If the question is success *because* of the Internet, wouldn't Dane Cook be the best example? He supposedly used social networking to build his fan base. Journey needed a new singer and hired Arnel Pineda because of his cover of Journey songs that they saw on YouTube. Susan Boyle became a worldwide sensation after her performance in Britain went viral on YouTube. As far as success strictly because of the internet, there's Marc Maron and a few other podcasters and porn stars and the list runs dry.
