In the comments of that story, one guy claims he got the idea to name blizzards all the way back in 2000, and that because of the noted legal concept of "Firsties" he will be having a stern talking to with the Weather Channel. Meanwhile -- likely using the same powerful computer systems that he used to help design his site, The Weather Space -- he has already determined that one storm has met the threshold for naming, and has thus claimed the storm and preemptively dubbed it "Adam". Admittedly, his list of names is less stupid/less imaginative than TWCs.
