OK - doesn't seem to be a temperature issue.
I've disable BOINC, so there is no real load on the system at all.

If I boot it and login to Kubuntu - (X11 session, as Wayland isn't
usable) it will just stop a few seconds after I login.

I've attached the kern.log for the entire session (although obviously
the last event(s) might not have made it to file...)
