This is odd.

I updated from 24.04 to 24.10. That worked OK. I was able to login and
check things, ensure I had the correct packages installed etc.

The next day I logged in, then started to have problems after ~15
minutes.

But now, if I boot the system into 6.11.0-9-generic it halts shortly
after the login screen is shown.  I don't actually have to login to
trigger this.

Booting with kernel 6.8.0-48-generic (from 24.04) is OK.
