Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
I start the application and the memory usage reported in system monitor just keeps growing and growing and gradually slows the system down. As a test I closed Firefox, killed the process then started it afresh. initial mem usage was about 20MB and 2 mins later, it was about 50. This is without doing any surfing or anything at all, not even clicking any buttons, just letting it sit there with the homepage open which is set to the speed dial plugin. It's not a critical issue I understand but after an hour or so of surfing mem usage is about 190MB, even if I close all tabs and return to just speed dial. I don't have a particularly high specced system (5 year old laptop) and it seems a bit excessive. Thanks, Glenn Running the standard Firefox that came with Hardy 8.04, can't find packagename ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Thu May 8 01:06:56 2008 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.04 Package: firefox-3.0 3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu3 PackageArchitecture: i386 ProcEnviron: PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: firefox-3.0 Uname: Linux 2.6.24-16-generic i686 ** Affects: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug -- excessive memory usage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228009 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
