I updated the system before I had the chance to try out you fix. I can't reproduce the problem. Sorry. I don't have the 6600GT any more, but the nvidia driver version is the same. o.O
And the new hardware is - MSI P35 - Nvidia Gainward GTS 250 Note that I am testing KDE 4.3 beta2 and using the folowing repository: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu jaunty main New lspci -vvnn output is in attachement I hope someone else can test this. good luck.
