Hey Mario, The kernel I put together has the same packaging as the vanilla kernel, to the best of my ability, and as far as I can tell.
It has been awhile since I have run into this, and I don't remember exactly what the issue was. Right now, the custom kernel installs fine, and uses the driver fine, etc. Looking that nvidia-current.postinst, this still looks like it will be an issue when the graphics driver is upgraded. nvidia-current.postinst only installs the driver for the currently running kernel. So anyone running more than one kernel will have an issue, not just those running a custom kernel. I completely understand that this affects only a small minority of users. I hope you don't mind that I will continue to use this bug to track whatever the best solution is. ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Opinion -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/598627 Title: driver doesn't build for kernel not running To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dkms/+bug/598627/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
