Re. #713 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- intel/+bug/993187/comments/713
I have ran for 24 hours on 12.04.1 with LTS Enablement stack from Quantal installed (with kernel 3.5.0-23-generic and X.Org X Server 1.13.0 / 2:1.13.0-0ubuntu6.1~precise2). Although the OS and graphics run smoother in 3.5 kernel, I just had a crash. Different message but similar symptoms. Black and white dump screen showing Kernel Bug message followed a few seconds later by corrupt graphics on screen and a need to Emergency Sync + Reboot - although system IS responsive to Num Lock this time, it's not entirely a hard lock but as Ctrl+Alt+F1 doesn't work to get to a console it might as well be. This time error is: Kernel Bug at slub.c Invalid Opcode At the time I was copying backup data to a removable disk across SSH and working in Unity as normal. Trying Kernel 3.8 next, as per suggestion from Shayne on comment #673: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- intel/+bug/993187/comments/673 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
