For those of you using Inspiron: Marwan's solution worked for me. I'm using 'GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pcie_aspm=force acpi=off"' in my /etc/default/grub file. and I've added 'echo 0 >/proc/sys/kernel/nmi_watchdog' to my /etc/rc.local file. (Thanks, man!)
