This happens me too. Always reproducible, steps: a) start computer b) verify that Xorg is using some 0.7% CPU c) lock the screen d) login back -> Xorg uses 97 ... 105% CPU Wait over ten minutes and it will not cool down. ('sudo killall Xorg' helps) ----- Step c) could be suspend/hibernate too, because they implies screen locking. ----- Also changing to the tty (i.e. ctrl-alt-f1) triggers xorg to use ~100% CPU. ---- Virtualbox mentioned earlier: I have virtualbox installed, but not running ('lsmod | grep vbox' gives hits).
