You seem to be booting in recovery mode, which will also break graphics support in its own way :/
Please: 1. Reboot and as soon as the purple screen appears tap Escape. Now choose a normal kernel and not recovery. 2. Reproduce the problem. 3. Reboot again into recovery mode if you need to. 4. Run this command to collect the log from the previous (failed) boot: journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt and send us the file 'prevboot.txt'. 5. Run this command: dpkg -l > allpackages.txt and send us the file 'allpackages.txt'. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1821609 Title: Xorg freeze - fails to start or stay going screen blanks-grub seems involved To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1821609/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
