Public bug reported: My display is not working properly. Ryzen 7, Radeon graphics ASUS Vivobook laptop. Display night light does not work and the HDMI port does not work as evidence. Furthermore, the display commands seem to signify that there is a driver that is not installed. But it was installed automatically and there is not selection that I can make in the additional drivers tab of the software update program.
I reinstalled ubuntu 20.04 LTS to uninstall the graphics driver that had been freezing my computer non-stop in search of a way to get ubuntu bug support (support is not provided when using the driver amd reccomends using). (Screenfreeze bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu/+bug/1900777) So, there appears to be a driver installed. However, the display is unclaimed. (see below). I switched from gdm3 to lightdm, as that was recommended in someone’s answer but did me no good. I have not switched back. blaise@blaise-VivoBook2:~$ sudo lshw -c video [sudo] password for blaise: *-display UNCLAIMED description: VGA compatible controller product: Renoir vendor: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
