Sorry to disappoint, but I just re-checked and indeed all test data I submitted so far had set the "DRI=off" option (as can be seen from the Xorg logs I posted). This stems from the very first tests I did, and in order not to introduce to many variables, I left it at that setting. So I can confirm at least that "nomodeset" and "DRI=off" has no apparent positive effect on my hardware.
