Hi, same problem here, the only way to make X get a "reasonable" resolution is by restarting the Xserver at the login GDM/KDM login screen, until it gives up and decides to probe the hardware for a change... Manual setting in xorg.conf also seems not working... I am attaching my xorg.conf for reference, in case someone has any suggestions. Thanks!
