I don't know really what it is. Karmic sometimes also didn't come back from sleep, but (it's strange) only when ndiswrapper (WiFi drivers) was installed. Also it sometimes didn't boot correctly, and crashed somewhere between splash and xsplash. (I have Lucid as new installation)
