Could you please boot into the Lucid kernel (2.6.32-22) and test the xorg-edgers PPA [1]? Hold down Shift while booting to get to grub to select the kernel. Alternately, you can remove the mainline through Synaptic; just search "2.6.34" and remove the three packages you installed. It's just important that you're not on the mainline kernel while testing xorg-edgers.
