OK José,

The error text "failed to allocate primary buffer: out of memory" makes me 
think this might be a kernel issue anyway.
Perhaps this bug started to affect you after a kernel upgrade (to 2.6.35-9 or 
2.6.35.10).
You might want to try to boot with an older kernel (2.6.35-8 or older).

Also you migth try to edit the file /etc/default/grub
>From the line:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
remove the word splash.

This causes booting without plymouth.
