Well, I think the profile import works for a majority of the people. Perhaps you had an extension installed that was blocking the cache from working? It works for me, but I never customized any of the preferences in about:config. If you can find the specific setting that's not compatible with Firefox 3.5, then we can possibly try to eliminate that from the profile migration. Tha
