Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apparmor-profiles
Recently i have troubles to open WWW Links in PDF Files using evince. Recently Evince isn't allowed to launch Chromium, or Epiphany any more, only Firefox works. AppArmor blocks the attempt to lauch my preferred Browser. Here is the syslog: Nov 7 09:43:54 omoikane kernel: [136447.836398] type=1503 audit(1257583434.242:22): operation="exec" pid=21766 parent=21765 profile="/usr/bin/evince" requested_mask="::x" denied_mask="::x" fsuid=1000 ouid=0 name="/usr/bin/chromium-browser" Nov 7 09:44:34 omoikane kernel: [136487.894295] type=1503 audit(1257583474.302:23): operation="exec" pid=21788 parent=21787 profile="/usr/bin/evince" requested_mask="::x" denied_mask="::x" fsuid=1000 ouid=0 name="/usr/bin/epiphany" I also found the Reason: The executeable file is now called "/usr/bin/epiphany", so the default "ubuntu-browser" profile does not match anymore, (neighter does it for chromium). Im not used to deb packaging, but maybe we could provide a register_browser(path, app_name) hook/function, that adds the Browser to the AppArmor "ubuntu-browser" Profile. This could help other Package Maintainers to integrate their packages more smoothy into ubunutu, and can also prevent simple communication issues like this one.
