In my opinion, the most obvious fix is to enable the functionality.
Systems using kernels older than 2.6.29 will not be able to benefit from
ti, exactly as it is the case now, and will see little difference.
Systems with newer kernels (I have a custom-compiled 2.6.29 will profit
from it.  There will be no need to package a new version explicitely for
2.6.29, and no kernel version dependency will need to be set.
