Hi RustySpoons, Indeed I am interested !
Using the i2c pins does free up quite some pins, and since I am planning
the GPIO pin usage for my project(s) this does simplify.

My question , Does the backpack allow you to do parallel output to the
LCD only , or would it allow you to get info back from buttons  too ?
The reason is I spotted quite a lot of cheap 1602 displays with I2C
combined , and 1602 displays with buttons.
Ideally I would combine the usage of the buttons and the I2C
communication, if there are options.

BTW Tibali, Great work ! I will order some missing parts and experiment
with your Slimmer setup. Probably adding a second rotary controller for
dedicated volume-up -down and pause/play.
