My setup: piCorePlayer 6.1.0, LMS 8.0.0 (on the same pi), pi 3B,
Raspberry Pi touch screen with Jivelite, Allo Boss DAC, Allo isolator,
Boss in master mode.

LMS has the PowerSave plugin enabled and set for 15 minutes. This works
fine. The player wakes up when the screen is touched.

Occasionally when the player has been idle for a long time (overnight
for example), the audio no longer works. piCorePlayer is running and the
web interface works. Jivelite "freezes" when trying to play music - the
interface shows no song progress, but all other functions work fine. LMS
shows "running" in the web GUI. The only thing that clears it is to
reboot piCorePlayer. After a reboot, things are fine for many hours.

dmesg log shows this at what I am guessing is the time things go awry:

[92461.769818] pcm512x 1-004d: Failed to remove power down: -121
[92461.771147] pcm512x 1-004d: Failed to disable pll: -121
[92461.771159] pcm512x 1-004d: ASoC: can't set pcm512x-hifi hw params:
-121
[92466.785860] bcm2835-i2s 3f203000.i2s: I2S SYNC error!

Once this has happened, if I turn on Squeezelite logging and try to play
music, I see stuff like:

[15:24:30.371474] output_thread:774 pcm wait timeout
[15:24:30.371575] ALSA snd_pcm_hw_start:688 SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed
(-77)
[15:24:30.371592] output_thread:764 start error: File descriptor in bad
state

(the two last lines repeat continuously).

So the audio output obviously can't be started.

The glitch could be power supply related, but I am wondering if there
are some known conditions which cause pcm512 or the kernel to mess up?
Perhaps some parameter setting for pcm512?

The I2S SYNC error is interesting, but understandable if the Allo Boss
shuts down since it is suppling the I2S clock in master mode.

Any hints appreciated!

Thanks
