Hi,

After many years of Java programming, I am getting into C++ in the hope of contributing to an open source project. I checked out the project code from GitHub and created a project in Netbeans. I can build the project from NB but not run it or debug it. When I point it to the executable the "Select executable" dialog it complains "File is not an executable". Yet I can start the target program from a terminal using that file. I can also start it from gdb in a terminal.

I've seen an old bug report on that problem, that should have been fixed in NB version 7.3.1:
https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=230988

Any suggestions?
