Exactly what tool on what OS on what Mac are you using?

Make sure the chain is properly terminated and their IDs don't collide.

That's kindof a 'well duh'.  If the Mac is reporting "no disc" 
somewhere then Norton certainly can't sniff enough to be able to tell 
what file system is on what volume.  That's kindof like declaring 
that the barrel over there is empty, just because it's closed (it 
actually contains a fluffy bunny).
