For my MacReader formatting to 800k disks, I had to use a LS-120 SuperDrive floppy. I apologize for not clarifying that in my earlier response.
Also, this might be a solution. I think certain LS-120 SuperDrive, uh, drives were able to SCSI or parallel external connections, so perhaps an LS-120 can be hooked up to the SE in question, and function as the new floppy drive. However, it does run the risk of not wanting to read 800k, though I doubt Imation/3M would be that dense to add that.
