My opinion, I wouldn't even open the case, as that would chip and mar the plastic in prying open. As you say, the parts would generate. An SE enthusiast would know how to resolve those problems. I bet somebody very good with electronics could bypass parts installing his own boards, leaving everything intact. Also, old mac hard drives I believe get "stiction" (freeze up) from setting idle for years. Removing and agitating can sometimes remedy that, but don't with this, and don't open the case, (my opinion). If you sold that SE30 for 500, the guy is getting a bargain. Don ps - The only thing that could make mint condition SE30s valueless is if apple or somebody had the original casts for the case and parts to remanufacture them, which I doubt.
