I'm not sure whom we have to thank for putting this together, but the
new HP Freeware CD v7.0 has several recent Perl kits, both source and
binaries:

http://h71000.www7.hp.com/freeware/freeware70/perl/

You'll see my easy-to-build source kit of Perl 5.8.4 (perlbuild584.zip) which includes a number of extra extensions, as well as binaries based on it for Alpha and Itanium. I'd be cautious with the Itanium v8.1 kit as gosh knows what all changed in the OS and compiler before the first production release (v8.2) actually shipped. I recommend rebuilding from source on Itanium if at all possible.

There is also a 5.6.1 Alpha binary kit in there, as well as a copy of
the standard 5.8.6 source tarball. Thanks to the anonymous person
who collected these and got them on the CD.

5.8.7 should be out in a month or two, and I hope to find time to
build updated kits based on it, but 5.8.4 is still current enough for
most purposes.
