On the ones I have seen, the package warns against this.
Also, most bulbs warn not to use them in enclosures like bathroom fan lights. (I suppose they overheat?) I've used them outside (also a no no) in sub-zero weather (bigger no no) . . .
There are specially made compact fluorescents for low temperature outdoor use. Or I guess maybe low or high temperature; temperature extremes. Anyway, look up "outdoor CFL."
They have these amazing little solar-recharging LED lights nowadays. They seem to last a long time. I find them a little annoying because they are on every night, and I prefer complete darkness or moonlight.
