I find that the sound level on DVD playback is consistently very low on many DVDs and this low level is not correlated with the sound from the same DVD played in a DVD player. Other sound functions and playbacks seem to behave normally with plenty volume. This happens on both my G5 SP and an Intel Macbook.
Has anyone anything to offer?

Hi Severin,

The sound level problems are only happening when playing a DVD in DVD Payer Application on the computers?

If it is only happening in the DVD Player Application, check DVD Player's preferences. If you adjusted video or audio settings for a DVD the last time you played it, DVD Player should reuse those settings the next time you play the disc. If the picture and sound aren’t what you expected, check to make sure the correct preferences or settings are selected.

Do you have selected "Start playing discs from: Beginning & "Always use disc settings for: Audio Equalizer, Video Color & Video Zoom?

To change a DVD’s settings while it’s playing in full screen mode, move the pointer to the bottom of the screen to show the Controller Bar. Click the Player Settings icon and then adjust the video zoom, video color, and audio equalizer.

If you set the volume to the maximum level in DVD Player but it’s still too low, increase your computer’s volume using the “Output volume” slider in System Preferences > Sound.

Cheers,
Ronni
