Hi Laura,

The Portable FW800 Drive I would recommend is a "Western Digitsl 2TB 
Firewire800 Drive "MyPassport Studio Portable Hard Drive". 
It doesn't require power, just runs off Firewire, and is a little portable 
drive. Very nice, great solid units.

If you do get one I will send you details how to set it up correctly to work 
with Time Machine.
They have a sleep feature, so can be set to sleep when not backing up to TM.
