If it is cast iron, I just mount what ever antenna directly to it. If I need to extend it I use cast of slightly larger diameter and slip it over. There is a cross cut (+) for 3 inches and 2 hose clamps, keeps it pretty tight. If it is not cast iron or galvanized then I do not touch them.
