Hi Laurie,

There are many ways to build Joe's apps. Attached is the method of build using the latest JTSDK v2.0. Regrettably, and hopefully a temporary situation, all of the Sourceforge projects starting with the letter "J" are down. Until this is resolved, you cannot properly install JTSDK for Windows using the attached method.

The installation instructions you've linked below are out of date, and that is my fault. I am slowly updating the instructions, but I've had limited time to delicate to radio activities of late.

Attached is an up to date JTSDK install procedure, which should allow you to build the latest development branch of WSJT-X without much trouble ( once the SF repository is back online ).

The downloads ( installers ) are functional, it's only the SVN checkout that is down, but the SVN chechout is a critical step in the overall install process. You could, if desired, download all 4 installers, then run both the MSVC and OmniRig sections in preparation. Once the SVN repo is functional again, run the main JTSDK installer followed by the update.

If you have any questions or problems with the install process, send it to the dev list, and I'm sure we can get you up and running in short order.

Bill,

Any chance someone could do a Windows compile for me to test.

I gave up long ago compiling from source as the files and methods seem to periodically change and I was doing so infrequently, that each time I had a need I was back to "square one" researching message threads trying to determine the latest correct method for a Windows compile. I just looked at "http://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/K1JT/wsjtx-doc/dev-guide-main.html"; but that seems much more complicated than the last one-step method (if I recall correctly) I last used, are those the proper instructions?

Sorry to be a pain.

JTSDK INSTALLATION

Installation assumes you have not installed JTSDK previously. Adjust as
necessary if reinstalling.

DOWNLOADS
* Download the following Packages and then follow the install instructions
below:

1. MS-VCredist
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jtsdk/files/win32/2.0.0/base/contrib/vcredist_x86.exe/download

2. OmniRig
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jtsdk/files/win32/2.0.0/base/contrib/OmniRig.zip/download

3. JTSDK Main Installer
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jtsdk/files/win32/2.0.0/JTSDK-2.0.0-win32.exe/download

4. JTSDK Installer Update-1:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jtsdk/files/win32/2.0.0/JTSDK-2.0.0-u1-win32.exe/download

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:

It's important to install these in the correct order. All you should
have to do is follow the prompts in all (4) installers. This will
take about ~15 minutes to complete, and the installation location for
JTSDK is fixed: C:\JTSDK it cannot be changed.

* Install MS-VCredist, just follow the prompts
* Unzip, then run the OmniRig Installer
* JTSDK Main Installer ( this takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete )
* JTSDK Installer Update-1

After all four have been installed, you should have desktop icons for:

JTSDK-QT (For building WSJTX, WSPR-X and MAP-65)
JTSDK-PY (For Building WSJT and WSPR)
JTSDK-DOC (For building documents )
JTSDK-MSYS (For Updating and building Hamlib3)

You can also browse to: Start >> Programs >> JTSDK and run from there.

UPDATING

Once installed, perform an update:
* Start > JTSDK > Maintenance > Maintenance Terminal
* update
* upgrade

You should do this often, as changes are frequently posted.

BUILDING ( COMPILING ) INSTRUCTIONS

You should re-build Hamlib3 often, as it is receives frequent updates.
* Run JTSDK-MSYS
* build-hamlib3

For building the other applications, run JTSDK-QT or PY then build the
application you want, for example, wsjtx v1.6.0, run the following commands:

* Run JTSDK-QT (Desktop Icon or Start Menu) then type:
* checkout-wsjtx
* build-wsjtx rinstall

The install location will be posted at the bottom of the build. Browse
to the location, then double click on the wsjtx binary.
