Hi Richard,
the most common cause of that error with Icom rigs is that "CI-V
Transceive Mode" is enabled on the rig. Hamlib requires that CI-V
Transceive mode is disabled for reliable CAT communications. Other
software should not be impacted apart from a small number of
applications that only work with "CI-V Transceive Mode" enabled.
