Thanks Robert. I looked at things this morning with fresh eyes, and
see that iStat Menus shows the load average on the machine has
returned to the pre-upgrade idle levels (much of yesterday it was
still elevated, probably from various things reindexing files and
whatnot in the background). So I closed down any other applications
running and opened just RUMlogNG and WSJT-X. Things seem to have
moved back from "unusable" to "sluggish" - around a 1s delay from the
time the transmit sequence should start to when audio is being
generated, and maybe a 1s overrun from everyone else on the band
stopping to when my station stops. Interestingly I see the "Decode"
button flash at the time everyone else stops, but it's around a second
later that audio stops flowing from my radio. It's as if the decode
portion of the program and the UI are working "at speed" but whatever
generates the audio to output just can't keep up, which seems to be
corroborated by the fact that all of the stations I decode are marked
with DT of less than .5. Regardless of it being a little behind, I
was able to make a contact this morning, so at least I can continue to
experiment and hopefully create some useful data for testing that can
narrow down the problem.
