I just installed Red Hat Linux onto my
computer (sharing a partitioned hard drive with windows ME). It came with
XFree86. It is the latest version. My first problem is that since I
can't get the GUI to start, obviously, and I can't seem to find how to access my
floppy drive, I am unable to access the log file that was generatedto send to
you. I can look at it but can't export it anywhere.
First the the screen turns royal blue with an aqua
dialogue box in it. At the bottom there are two choices, yes and no but
there is no text in the box. This pops up several times. Then, with
the same colors, there is a larger dialogue box with a short log/error
message. The error says:
Fatal server error: no screens found
In the data log at /var/log/XFree86, the error
messages say:
(EE) R128(0): Virtual height (0) istoo small
for the hardwar (min 128)
and later
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable
configuration.
Please note that I am using a laptop, It could have
something to do with the problem. If this isn't descriptive enough for you
then please tell me how to get this to you. Thanks for your
help.
