Why is compress done the way it is in the ZIO pipeline ? That is why is it not always in the pipeline and only put into it if it is turned on ?
I'm trying to work out for encryption why Bill said in a previous mail that compress is funny and I should probably more closely follow checksum. -- Darren J Moffat
