Currently we are facing a Greenplum database problem, whose root
cause maybe the getdent performance problem discussed in the following
messages:

I'd like to know are there any improvements or fixes since 2005 to resolve
this problem?
In our environment, we have 140000 files in one directory, it causes the GP
server's table dropping operation is very slow. We are using Solaris 10u5
for X64 on Sun Fire X4540 server with 48 SATA disks.
