I should forewarn, Ahang here descends from a Zoroastrian family who could tell you a great deal about how the jizya was imposed in practice. The biggest barrier for Zoroastrians in accepting the Baha'i Faith was in having to accept the prophethood of Muhammad as well.
 
*However*, Ahang, you should know that the Sasanians imposed this poll tax long before Muslims did.
