" May I request Dr. Khazeh Fannanapazir and other friends in this forum to shed some light onto the verse of Quran and the conclusion that this Egyptian scholar is trying to prove."
Dear Firouz, Now that my sides have stopped hurting perhaps I can take your question a little more seriously. I think what our Egyptian 'scholar' has done is rather typical of some of the differences between Evangelical Christians and Muslims in their approach to the relationship between science and religion. Evangelical Christians tend to want to make science fit the scriptures, and therefore they tend to reject scientific discoveries which contradict scripture. Muslims, on the other hand, tend to want to read the discoveries of modern science into the Qur'an often coming up with absurd interpretations of scripture in the process. I think examples such as this should serve as a warning about what happens when we don't make a proper distinction between the different functions science and religion are meant to serve. warmest, Susan The information contained in this e-mail and any attachments thereto ("e-mail") is sent by the Johnson County Community College ("JCCC") and is intended to be confidential and for the use of only the individual or entity named above.
