not generally available, not even to all gov’t agencies. Don’t
remember his name, but he was a Baha’i working for a state department
of agriculture extension service, maybe for Wisconsin. How pleased he
was to be able to use FidoNet to send msgs to the hinterlands of
Africa. With a little luck, they could ask a question via FidoNet and
have an answer in as little as 3-4 days, compared to, possibly, that
may weeks by conventional mail.

It used to take a week or more to mail a letter from the U.S. to Japan.
Now it takes maybe 5 minutes.
