Had my air conditioner intake plug a few times when in a slip in a
stagnant corner of a marina where trash accumulated.  Things stuck in the
elbow on top of the thru hull.  I have a tee with garden hose hookup and a
valve on the discharge so I can blow it out.

Contributory to the problem was it was a street elbow.  I have since
switched it to a long elbow.  Like your situation, the boat was not moving.
