This is now fixed.  You guys are awesome.

Special thanks to Buchan Milne for helping me through the troubleshooting of this and 
helping to establish that it was a real bug.  I may be wrong, but I don't believe that 
as much attention would have been paid to it were it not for him.

I updated to the latest cooker snapshot (20030307) ran drakconnect again and the 
hostname is set properly

[EMAIL PROTECTED] greg]$ getent hosts `hostname`
192.168.0.6     cooker.local

Yaaayyyy!

Hopefully everybody else's name resolution issue is solved too.  I am very happily 
marking this bug FIXED and then I am going to bed.  I have had enough cookering for 
one night.

When I configure my network during rc1 installation, no matter what hostname I enter 
when configuring dhcp, the computer uses dhcppc8, which I assume is being assigned by 
the dhcp server.  The address being assigned by the server is 192.168.0.9.  Why ask 
for a hostname if it will not be used in the configuration files permanently?
