I tried to reproduce the problem I reported.
The bug is still present in version 1.5.8-1~exp1 from experimental.
Maybe there is a good reason for the debian/patches/gd-renderer.dpatch
patch. A better reason than nicer graphics.
I also note that the bug is now also present in Ubuntu Jaunty.
