Put more concretely in terms of user experience: nouveau causes
regular, random, immediate system freezes with RTX 20 series and RTX
30 series GPUs.

The only safe workaround is to force VGA/VESA mode until the NVIDIA
proprietary driver is installed.

I experienced this problem last week[1] and it's pretty consistent
across the board.
