Starting in February 2004 we began showing a Google AdSense ad on the right-hand side of every message page. This year we were able to remove that ad for everyone using the site directly. AdSense only shows up if you land on a message page after doing a search on a search engine like Yahoo, Google, MSN, etc. This has been a real win because it keeps the ads away from anyone that normally uses the site and only shows a few ads to drive-by search engine visitors.
