I believe it is because the remote session could happen from outside the network via URL redirection to the HMC. There is not an easy way to tunnel TN3270 session through browser to a different IP inside local network (of course unless you connect via VPN to access HMC).
Nope... not very useful. But for smaller customers it could be a boon considering they don't have invest in additional PC's for few OS consoles they require.
