I don't use debian and never use ubuntu on servers, only LTS versions on
desktops,  I know that 99.9% of ubuntu packages are packaged by the same
debian maintainer, again, that's an OS specific issue, its not Mon's nor
Jim's or anyones here job to chase people like that up. If you assume
responsibility for a package, the buck stops with you, (and this applies
to RedHat and all others as well), which is why I prefer Slackware on
servers and remove many ubuntu installed software and use the source.


Sysadmins need to realise there is such a thing called source code, and
use it rather than blaming some package maintainer who as you point out
can look after a dozen or more packages, and is supposed to have a real
life as well, but maybe its time they delegated out to other volunteers.
