I have to turn off the nvidia chip so I am using the Intel GPU to see the issue. For me it impacts all rendering, not just volumes as some have reported. As soon as I startup PV 5.4 I get the black box in the corner where the axis actor is positioned. I just realized Cory and Utkarsh are both on vacation which is probably why this issue has been a bit quite on the Kitware side. I think it is a known issue we are having with the new Qt version and those systems specific to Windows. I would bet the prior version of ParaView (5.3?) will work.
